This product features long-term stability of less than 0.1 mb per year and is suitable for applications requiring precise measurement, fast response, and long-term stability and reliability.
To withstand the harsh environment of automatic weather stations (AWS) and meet environmental monitoring needs, the Model 278’s housing is constructed from stainless steel and polyester materials. The pluggable 5-pin terminal block simplifies connection to data loggers and signal interfaces, while the 1/8" barbed pressure port facilitates easy pneumatic connection. With a compact size of 3.6" × 2.4" × 1.0", the sensor is an ideal choice for both new and replacement applications.
The Model 278 operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F). Users can select 0-2.5 VDC or 0-5 VDC output, 3-wire or 4-wire circuitry, and an excitation voltage of 9.5-28 VDC. The sensor consumes very low power (3 mA nominal). Its sleep mode reduces power consumption to 1 μA, while allowing fast start-up for pressure readings when needed.
The Model 278 utilizes Setra’s SETRACERAM™ capacitive sensing element and a unique IC analog circuit, fundamentally simplifying the design. The thermally stable glass-fused ceramic sensing cavity, combined with Setra’s proven capacitive charge-balancing IC circuit, delivers excellent performance in both accuracy and environmental compensation. The SETRACERAM™ sensing element’s outstanding coefficient of thermal expansion and low mechanical hysteresis provide the Model 278 with excellent long-term stability.
